In 1965, at the urging of Pastor Wittenberg, three church women: Lorraine Schilling, Dolores Jungerberg and Suzanne Aiken founded the church library from the humble beginning of 2 shelves in the entrance to the basement. After Suzanne visited several area libraries for ideas, a library area was set aside in the fellowship room. Later, a Sunday School room was vacated at the present location. Marian Westphal became involved with the library soon after its founding and became another leader in its evolution to its present form. Carol Cance, Hazel Tumm, Earlene Dragseth, Ellen Smith, Doris Hennig, Denise Klopp and Stephanie Fredrickson became volunteers later.
The library now has hundreds of quality adult, young adult and children’s books, CDs and DVDs thanks to the donations of our members and former members. Funding also comes from the sales of greeting cards and donations given in memory of loved ones. The library staff purchases, catalogues and processes the items. They strive to provide quality materials that will enhance our understanding of our faith and provide spiritual guidance for young and old.
The staff hopes that you “continue to read the inspired words of Jesus in order that you might be renewed and strengthened in your faith to serve Him more fully.” It is their goal that the library enhances that experience by providing meaningful books and other media. Please get in the habit of checking out our materials and bringing your children and grandchildren in to access faith-based material that isn’t as accessible in public or school libraries. They are proud of our little library and want to share it with you!
Thank you to all of you who support the library with your donations. You make the library the source of inspiration that it is!
